03 / PERPETUALS

Funding Fees

Funding payments keep perpetual contract prices anchored to the underlying spot price. Funding flows between long and short holders — Niyam Exchange does not earn from it.

Schedule

Funding is exchanged every 4 or 8 hours depending on the contract. You only pay or receive funding if you hold a position at the funding interval.

Direction

When the funding rate is positive, longs pay shorts. When negative, shorts pay longs.

Funding Amount = Nominal Value of Position × Funding Rate

where Nominal Value = Mark Price × Contract Size

04 / RISK

Liquidation Fees

If your position breaches its maintenance margin requirement, Niyam Exchange's risk engine forcibly closes it. Two charges apply at liquidation: a Taker Fee on the closing trade, and an Insurance Clearance Fee that funds Niyam Exchange's Insurance Fund.

Taker Fee

Standard Taker Fee for your VIP tier applies on the closing trade
(see Section 01)

Insurance Clearance Fee

Charged on the liquidated notional, varies by symbol. Contributed to the Insurance Fund which protects all traders from socialised losses and ADL.

Insurance Clearance Fee = Liquidated Notional × Clearance Rate

Liquidated Notional = Mark Price at liquidation × Position Size

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Niyam Exchange's fee structure. Still unsure? Reach out to support.

How is GST applied on Niyam Exchange fees?

GST at 18% is applied on Maker/Taker fees, GST at 18% is applied on options fees. It is calculated separately on each fee and shown as a distinct line in your transaction history. GST is not applied on TDS or on funding amounts.

Are funding fees the same as trading fees?

No. Trading fees (Maker/Taker) are charged by Niyam Exchange when your order executes. Funding fees are exchanged between long and short holders of perpetual contracts every 4 or 8 hours to keep contract prices anchored to spot. Niyam Exchange does not earn from funding payments.

When does the Insurance Clearance Fee apply?

The Insurance Clearance Fee applies only when a position is forcibly liquidated by Niyam Exchange's risk engine. It does not apply on stop-loss orders, take-profit orders, or any manually closed position. The fee is contributed to Niyam Exchange's Insurance Fund, which protects all traders from socialised losses.

Are Niyam Exchange's fees subject to change?

Yes. Niyam Exchange reserves the right to adjust fee rates based on market conditions, liquidity considerations, or regulatory changes. Any updates will be reflected on this page and communicated to users in advance via email and in-app notifications where applicable.
